The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful.

Usually we find it difficult to control our mind and we follow any  thoughts that come up – whether they are positive or negative creating  a constant mental busyness.

On this half-day course, Lorraine will

  • explain the benefits of meditation
  • help us to understand what a meditation object is (with examples)
  • give guidance on how to begin and maintain focus on the meditation object
  • teach us what our two main distractions are in meditation
  • help us to maintain  mindfulness in meditation
  • explain how to start and continue a practice of meditation at home

You do not have to be a Buddhist to benefit from this course, our courses are designed to suit modern life living. No previous experience nor special clothing is required. Each course consists of a combination of guided meditations and practical teachings on how to apply the ancient teachings of Buddha to a busy modern life. This wisdom is derived from Modern Buddhism presented by our founder Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and is easy to understand and practice. You will learn the methods to let go of stress, worry and anxiety and improve the quality of your life and mental wellbeing by developing ways of maintaining inner peace and happiness regardless of life’s challenges.

No special clothing required, wheelchair accessible entrance, seating on chairs or cushions.
