Mindfulness & Concentration for Daily Life

Through training in mindfulness and concentration we can gain control of our mind and improve the quality of our life by overcoming harmful states of mind and find stillness and peace within. A person with good concentration has control over their mind, like a well-trained horse that obeys its rider. Pure concentration also helps to make our body and mind comfortable and flexible and is essential if we wish to remain at peace in daily life.

On this course we will look at methods to improve our mindfulness and concentration both in meditation and in our daily life so that we can maintain a sense of peace and contentment and solve many of our daily problems.

Everyone is welcome to this free event.

Mindfulness: Living in the Moment

Often we can find that our mind oscillates between dwelling on the past or being anxious about the future. This mental busyness takes us away from the present, prevents us from enjoying the simple things in life, and makes it very difficult to connect with the peace and happiness that we have the potential to experience in every single moment.

On this half-day meditation course, we will use Buddhist meditation and practical teachings to learn to let go of our busy thoughts and to experience the lightness and joy of mind that comes through the practice of mindfulness and living in the moment. This course is suitable for everyone.

Heal the Mind Heal the Body – Medicine Buddha Empowerment

Medicine Buddha is the embodiment of all enlightened healing energy. The empowerment is a beautiful guided meditation through which we’ll receive the powerful blessings and inspiration of this enlightened being.

All of us have had to deal with physical or mental illness, either our own, or that of a loved one. Where do these illnesses come from and is there a way to heal them? If we are willing to work at the deepest levels of body and mind we can remove the most subtle causes of illness through the practice of Medicine Buddha. It is said that the power of this practice becomes greater as confusion and conflict in this world increase, so this practice is especially vital for us now

What is an Empowerment?

An Empowerment is a blissful guided meditation through which we make a special, heart-felt connection with a particular Buddha and receive their inspiration. The enlightened mind is said to be like a boundless deep ocean, every drop of which has the power to bring inner peace to living beings. Receiving an Empowerment is a means of connecting with this expansive potential inside our own mind, giving us the energy and wisdom to begin to realise our own Buddha nature.

Everybody is welcome. this day course is perfect for all levels of experience.

The day will consist of teachings, guided meditations, a delicious vegetarian lunch and time to relax and  in the World Peace Café for teas and coffees.
