Mindfulness for Daily Life

Training in basic mindfulness as a tool for managing our emotions and controlling our thoughts and feelings. Covers mindfulness, concentration, attention and alertness. By training to develop and improve these mental skills we can make them into powerful transformational tools. Only with strong mindfulness can we bring our thoughts and feelings under control and thereby begin to manage our emotions. By using the mindfulness toolkit to develop and maintain pure intentions eventually we will eradicate all our negativity and enjoy a peaceful and happy mind all the time.

The day will consist of
teachings, guided meditations, a vegetarian lunch and time to relax and enjoy the World Peace Café.

Everybody is welcome, and the day will be suitable for both newcomers and those with some experience to meditation.

The Teacher

Kelsang Öpel is a Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher at Akanishta Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Cheltenham. She has studying and practising Buddhism for many years. Her wisdom, skill and faith in Dharma come through in her teaching style. Opel has a humorous and relaxed manner and is very caring in the way she relates to people.

About Kadampa Meditation Center Leicester

Located in the heart of Leicester, Nagarjuna Kadampa Meditation Center provides meditation classes and events and is home to the World Peace Cafe.

We have daily lunchtime classes from Mondays to Fridays 12.30pm – 1.00pm, so if you are shopping or working in town, why not drop-in for a relaxing meditation.

We offer evening drop-in classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sunday am (Free class once a month) Sunday pm, which is suitable for all, we also so have Saturday morning half-day courses, perfect introductory courses for beginners, or new to meditation. We also have day courses and our very popular Meditation and Meal evenings.

We also have Foundation Programme on Wednesday evenings which is a special meditation and study group for those wishing to deepen their understanding of Buddha’s teachings.

Our vegetarian World Peace Cafe is open from Mondays – Saturdays from 10.30am, our cafe is run by volunteers from all over the world. Our Cafe is closed the first Monday of each month.
